Tracey Technologies Unveils New Scleral Lens Workflow at ASCRS 2025
Integration with Advance Medical’s enVisus® and Zenlens® CHROMA HOA™ highlights real-world impact of iTrace® diagnostics using True Ray Tracing
Houston, TX — Tracey Technologies recently showcased a new workflow that enables optometrists and specialty contact lens fitters to design personalized scleral lenses for patients with higher-order aberrations (HOAs). This innovation is the result of a seamless integration between Tracey’s iTrace® True Ray Tracing Aberrometer and the enVisus® lens design platform from Advance Medical—now fully compatible with Bausch + Lomb’s Zenlens® CHROMA HOA™ scleral contact lenses.
The new workflow offers an advanced, clinically practical approach to managing patients with complex corneal conditions such as keratoconus, post-refractive surgery irregularities, and other forms of ocular surface disease. By integrating iTrace® diagnostics with enVisus® design automation, eye care professionals can create customized scleral lenses that precisely address visual distortions by reducing higher order aberrations to enhance vision quality.
After the event where the company demonstrated the new model, executives at Tracey Technologies expressed excitement about the future of their device. “We were thrilled to showcase this advancement at ASCRS 2025,” said Ray Sievert, executive vice president, Sales and Marketing, Tracey Technologies. “Doctors can now take iTrace® data and turn it directly into customized Zenlens® contact lens designs that deliver excellent clarity. It’s a seamless solution for challenging visual conditions.”
Key Workflow Features:
- The iTrace® system captures a highly detailed HOA map using proprietary True Ray Tracing technology—offering an alternative to traditional wavefront-based methods.
- Data is transferred directly into the enVisus® software, eliminating the need for manual entry and reducing the risk of human errors.
- enVisus® generates lens designs with HOA compensation embedded, tailored to the unique visual profile of each patient.
- These designs are compatible with Zenlens® manufacturing, enabling swift production within the lab’s existing workflow.
The result is an efficient, scalable solution for producing advanced scleral lenses that enhance both visual acuity and patient comfort—without requiring labs to change infrastructure or adopt new fabrication platforms.
“Our collaboration with Tracey Technologies represents a powerful alignment of purpose: their iTrace® system delivers the precision of True Ray Tracing Aberrometry, while our enVisus® platform turns that data into advanced lens geometries ready to be manufactured with speed and precision,” said Dr. Filippo Selden, CEO, Advance Medical. “By bridging diagnostic insight with seamless production, we’re helping manufacturers deliver truly personalized, HOA-compensating lenses in everyday practice, and driving the next chapter in vision care.”
“iTrace software and the enVisus system broaden eye care professional’s ability to use our Zenlens® CHROMA HOA™ lenses,” said Yang Yang, Global Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “The data these technologies provide are essential to the fitting process and will enable more doctors to offer our unique lens technology.”
Practitioners present at the April conference in Los Angeles were able to explore the full capabilities of this integration through live demonstrations and case-based discussions, highlighting how this technology enhances diagnostic confidence and fitting precision for advanced scleral lens patients.
