Let's take a look at some actual cases to gain a better understanding of the diagnostic applications of the iTrace.
| Patient Education Tool |
|
The iTrace is a powerful patient education tool. Use the point spread function and the simulated Snellen letter displays to help your patient understand his or her vision. Help them see their best-corrected visual results by only displaying higher-order aberration results. This screen, called the Visual Function Analysis display, shows the patient's right and left eyes and provides a complete refractive and wavefront summary for both. And it include potential visual complaints that the patient may be experiencing due to the higher order aberrations present in their visual system.

| Aberrations of the Internal Optics |
|
| WFCT Display - A high myopic patient hoping to be referred to a LASIK surgeon for surgical options (ie LASIK, ICL,etc). In this case we see that the top two maps - wavefront of the internal optics and wavefront of the entire eye - are very similar in appearance. This correlation indicates that the total ocular aberrations are dominated by the internal (lens) optics. One might conclude that this patient may be dissatisfied with a refractive surgery procedure, in which case you, as the optometrist, might counsel the patient about other options. |
